Our Ireland tour continues

Well it has been a few days since we have been able to access the internet. My last blog went missing somewhere so I will have to start again.
We had a fabulous few days in Dublin and walked  ourselves silly with the result our feet felt the brunt of it.
Weather was cool and we had to wear warm clothing.  Saw most of the sights to see.  Then we moved on to a very unique part of the country.  We stayed with some Servas hosts in Ballyfin which was a very different experience. It was on a farm in the middle of nowhere near Port Laoise south of Dublin.  He was an artist, sculpturer, carpenter, farmer, musician and comedian and quite whacky.  What fun we had and he had the broadest Irish accent we had ever heard. When we finally found this place we wandered what we were in for. His home was about 150years old.  He cooked us dinner the first night and we cooked the next night.
We were very comfortable and very warm inside.  Outside it had turned freezing as this place is quite high up. We were waiting for one ofthe sheep to have her lamb but she still hadn't had it when we left.

We have seen many wonderful sights including castles, mansions and cathedrals all hundresd of years old.  The place we are staying in now is the oldest city in Ireland.  Goes back to the 10th century..This place is full of history.

Discovered I have a second cousin in Dublin. William Jacob.  He is my Dad's, Auntie Edith's grandson.  Do you get that? We had a lovely meal with the family. My great aunt Edith lived in Waterford for many years.  They are still Quakers and there are many towns with a big Quaker influence.

Today we passed through Kilkenny Castle, Cashell,  a very ancient cathedral and other towns which are all very old cities. We were in pouring rain and freezing wind

Hopefully Iwill be able to post some photos up later.
